Steps everyone should do to protect their skin

Your lifestyle can have a big impact on your skin. An unhealthy lifestyle will take its toll on your skin and mental wellbeing. Bad habits, like smoking and using tanning beds, can damage your skin and lead to early signs of ageing. The more you look after your mind and body – the better your skin will be. You need to find a skincare routine that works for your lifestyle and body.

Here are a few steps to help you protect your skin.

SPF

You should apply SPF every day to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. You should wear SPF even if it’s cold and cloudy outside. Try to get into the habit of applying your SPF after your other skincare products. Make sure you bring it down your neck and onto your chest as well. You should wear SPF all over your body in the summer months to stop your skin from burning.

Hydration

You should drink around six to eight cups of fluid a day. Aim for around two litres of water per day with a few cups of coffee or tea as well. Water keeps your body healthy and hydrated. As you increase your water intake, you will notice your skin looks more refreshed as well. If you drink lots of water, you are less likely to have scars, wrinkles and soft lines on your face.

Nutrition

Nutrition is one of the most important parts of a healthy lifestyle. Some people find their skin flares up with acne and rashes when they eat specific foods. Often these foods include refined grains, sugars, dairy and saturated fat. If you have problems with your skin, eat a clean diet for a few weeks to see if it helps.

Sleep

When you feel tired, you look tired. Dark bags under your eyes, dry patches and wrinkles are likely to show through when you’re exhausted. Try to establish a regular sleep schedule by going to bed and waking up at the same time every day. Most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep every day. Set the alarm on your phone to remind you to go to bed at least nine hours before you need to wake up.

Skincare

Skincare can give your skin the extra boost it needs. Fill your skincare with vitamins, oils, cleansers and whatever you need to feel beautiful.  Your skin type should determine the type of products you need. For example, someone with oily skin may need more acids in their skincare routine. You could look into plastic surgery if you want to make some bigger changes.

Form healthier lifestyle habits and watch your skin transform.
