5 great coffee drinks you must try this summer

coffee drinks

There’s often nothing better than chilling out on a hot summer’s day with a refreshing coffee.

If you’re anything like me, summer can really take it out of you. Staying out in the sun all day long, going for a long walk or even spending a day at the park can leave you feeling fatigued and ready for a nap.

Everyone wants to make the most of the warmer months, but summer doesn’t stop when you need to sleep. After all, in many parts of the US, those easy weather days won’t be around for very long..

Sheer willpower won’t get power you through the day, so it’s important to have a little boost every now and again. Coffee is the perfect way to kick up your energy to make sure you can keep up with everyone around you.

I will admit that in recent months I’ve become a little bit of a coffee connoisseur. I love trying out new brands and flavors, and after months of testing, I think I’ve finally collated my top summer list of coffee beverages.

Here are 5 great coffee drinks you must try this summer.

Vanilla Iced Coffee

You know your coffee is going to be good when you add flavoring. Vanilla syrup is the perfect way to add a summery twist your everyday coffee this season. You’ll need to choose a sweet and creamy blend that is designed to be cold-brewed and cut with whole milk.

Not only does this coffee look stunning and will impress all of your friends, but it also tastes simply amazing.

This kit from Blue Bottle provides you with the perfect coffee blend, roasted chicory, and a great recipe to set you up to make your own.

When I have a little bit of time, I love spending it making this drink. All I need to do is add milk, sugar, and syrup.  It’s so easy to make an impressive, refreshing drink!

Blue Bottle taste tests all its blends weekly to ensure it is delivering the same fantastic taste with every sale. I love that dedication to maintaining good quality.

A brand that invests time into its products is definitely worth supporting.

Cafe Affogato

Nothing screams summer more than coffee with ice cream. Cafe Affogato literally translates to a scoop of ice cream or gelato “drowned” by espresso. Iin order to really enjoy the flavor of the coffee, it’s best to use two to three scoops of simple, vanilla ice cream.

Pop the ice cream into beautiful glass dishes, pour freshly brewed coffee over the top and serve immediately. The thick cream will melt into the coffee, blending to create a creamy, indulgent dessert.

I like to use Eight O’Clock Coffee – the whole bean variation is an irresistible medium roast that is strong enough to flavor the ice cream without overpowering it.

This wonderful medley of cream and coffee is something you definitely need to try this summer.

Coffee tonic

Coffee tonic was inspired from cocktails, so you pretty much know it’s going to be something great. I love to enjoy a coffee tonic as an afternoon pick-me-up.

Use two shots of Koffee Kult espresso per serving, pour them into a tall glass and leave to cool completely. Fill the glass with ice to ensure your drink will be as cool as possible and squeeze lime over the top for a hint of citrus. After this, simply pour cold, fizzy tonic water over the top.

The great thing about this drink is that you can flavor it any way you fancy.

Lime isn’t the only thing that works with coffee tonic- you can also try raspberries, strawberries, and even sometimes, just a little dash of something stronger as an evening alcoholic treat.

Koffee Kult’s dark roast i s perfect for this drink because it’s smooth, clean, and has a much fuller taste than any other brand, meaning it cuts through the taste and the fizz of the tonic much better.

Protein coffee

We all have to have that little talk with ourselves every now and again to tell us to step away from the pasta and hit the gym.

Ultimate Nutrition’s Protein Coffee blends are wonderful for getting a coffee kick into your day alongside a hefty 15 grams of protein.

If you’re heading for a summer health kick, then these flavors are amazing for getting your muscles to both synthesize and recover much quicker.

There are several varieties available, so you’ll never be bored: Ultimate Nutrition offers mocha latte, caramel frappe, and a simple iced coffee blend that I swap and change all the time.

Each serving is only 100 calories with only 1g of fat and 1g of sugar, too- making this healthy sweet treat alternative into a perfect snack whilst on a diet.

Every blend available is creamy and doesn’t taste like a powder at all – so you know you really are drinking a good quality product.

Thai iced coffee

If you want to add an oriental flavoring to your everyday coffee, then Thai is the way to go. Simply pick a full-bodied, dark roast espresso such as Kicking Horse Coffee, and add cardamom pods for a spicy-sweet kick.

I like to make this by the jugful: pour black coffee into a jug, add sweetened, condensed milk to taste and a few ice cubes.

If I’m feeling patient, I’ll then pop it in the refrigerator for an hour or two. A few tablespoons of evaporated milk or heavy cream also go down very well with this.

It’s important to make sure to do a taste test with this so you can be sure you get the flavoring just right.

To serve, place a few ice cubes in the bottom of each glass and pour the coffee over them.

Are you ready?

Which yummy recipe are you going to try first? I love them all, and I’m sure you will too. Remember: the perfect coffee comes from a great blend mixed with top quality milk or cream. It’s also important to put the time and care into your beverage to make it extra special, and worth the wait.
