It’s hard to believe that Fashion Month is over.
I’ve been so immersed in the fall fashion shows that it feels like weeks since I’ve seen my friends and I’m episodes behind on Girls—although, let’s be honest, I doubt I missed much there. With my Manolos barely having had a chance to cool off from running to (and from) shows, I’ve put together what you’ve all been waiting for: Lifestyle Mirror’s Fall 2013 Trend Report—the cheat sheet to everything you’ll want next season.
I realize it might be a little difficult to get excited about fall fashion as we spend our nights dreaming of sunny days and sandy beaches—and dare I say it, a little much-needed color on our cheeks. But if the runway shows in New York, London, Milan, and Paris have proven anything, it’s that we have a lot to look forward to come fall 2013. Or, if you’re like us editors, there’s already a lot you can work into your wardrobe right away.
That’s the thing about fashion, the minute I see something new, I want to embrace it immediately. Case in point, seeing all of the knee-high boots on the New York Fashion Week runways at Calvin Klein, Belstaff, and Theyskens’ Theory had me digging into the back of my closet for an old black suede pair I had ignored for years. Similarly, after suggestively sheer latex at Burberry and see-through separates at Erdem, the London shows had me desperate to show off my lingerie. (Sorry, Dad.)
My Milan obsession was a hundred percent Prada. There was something so enviably sexy about the off-the-shoulder silhouettes—don’t think I wasn’t tempted to break out the fashion tape to achieve the same thing. And while this story focuses on fashion, I have to take this moment to bring up the wet hair. Miuccia Prada was practically giving girls everywhere a reason not to break out their blow dryer.
Last, but certainly not least, was Paris Fashion Week, where all of the other fall fashion runway trends started to make sense—or where some of the strongest fall 2013 trends emerged. (Thank you Marc Jacobs, for confirming at Louis Vuitton that sleepover dressing is indeed a fall trend.)
