Now in its third year, the ambitious Wallpaper Handmade project didn’t disappoint. Open from now through April 22, the project expertly brings together designers with craftsmen and brands with manufacturers. While the alliances may seem atypical, the results are breathtaking. Here, Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini collaborated with London-based wallcovering company Cole & Son to create a graphic print inspired by the fashion house’s famed Flora print, which was created for Grace Kelly in 1966. In another case of fashion meets function, of particular note was a tent designed by London industrial designers Sam Hecht and Kim Colin of Industrial Facility. The duo created a waterproof canvas tent, which was produced and outfitted by Louis Vuitton. And though this piece is a one-off and isn’t for sale, the fashion house will be revealing its Objets Nomades collection of foldable, portable furniture for “modern day explorers” at Art Basel this December.
