Q: What kind of coverage can I expect from the Beauty Balm?
A: MAC’s Beauty Balm is designed to work as a primer. It boosts the skin’s natural radiance while minimizing imperfections and creating a lovely base for foundation. Worn alone over skincare, it protects the skin… It photographs beautifully and minimizes imperfections.
Q: What products can I skip if I’m using a BB Cream?
A: MAC’s Prep + Prime Beauty Balm SPF 35 can be used in place of your regular primer. For the perfect application, liberally prep your skin with moisturizer. Try using MAC’s Moisture Gel to get the skin plumped and perfectly hydrated.
Q: BB Creams can be pretty heavy. Can I really layer foundations with it?
A: MAC’s Beauty Balm can be applied over moisturizer and under foundation. Since it behaves like a balm rather than a cream, I always apply plenty of MAC Brightening Serum prior to moisturizer. For a flawless look, I recommend layering the balm rather than mixing it in. Remember to let the balm set for a few minutes before applying your foundation.
Q: What brushes would you recommend I use to apply my BB?
A: We have several great options — some of my favorites are MAC #187 and #109.
Q: The sunscreen in most BB’s can leave a white finish. If I have darker skin or a tan glow, can I mix other products with my BB to get the right color?
A: If you have a deeper skin tone and want the benefits and look of the MAC Beauty Balm, I recommend mixing your foundation in with the balm to avoid having a white finish to your skin. Another option is to apply MAC’s Natural Radiance with the beauty balm; this will help to blend it in with your skin tone prior to applying foundation. In the near future, we will be coming out with shade extensions for darker skin tones.
