Not only does makeup allow us to enhance what we already have, but with a few simple tricks, we can fake features we weren't born with—like big eyes. Just by tweaking your routine with products you use on a normal basis—eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara—almond eyes can appear wider and more open. Below find simple tricks on how to make your eyes look bigger with makeup that anyone can do.
The first rule of thumb: never go too dark with the eye makeup. Encircling the eyes with dark kohl liner closes the eyes from the rest of the face. Instead make eyes look more open with light colors, like white eyeliner and pastel pink shadow. Applied near the eyes, they make the whites of the eyes appear larger.
Another simple tip is elongating the eye—eyeliner or mascara both do the trick. Even the smallest flick of eyeliner at the outer corner of the eye widens the surface space. For those not big on eyeliner, let mascara do the work. After applying one coat to all of the lashes, focus the wand up and out on the far outside lashes.
