Jennifer Hudson recently told PEOPLE that because of her new pixie, she's had to get a completely new wardrobe. "I want clothes that will elongate my body, " she told the magazine. "If you are gonna wear a different style, you have to wear it. You can't let it wear you."
A new wardrobe isn't the only thing you should change when making the chop. Your makeup collection will need an update as well.
With a bold cut like the pixie (or a blunt bob), you want to keep the makeup as minimal and natural-looking as possible. Where you can play it up: the lips. Because all of the hair sits on top, adding emphasis to the lower half of the face balances out the look. If high-pigment lipsticks like MAC and Dolce & Gabbana aren't your thing, a pencil like NARS lip pencils are the way to go. They provide just as much color, but feel lighter when applied—almost like a lip balm.
For the eyes, keep it light. A shimmer taupe or soft metallic brightens the eyes without looking too done-up. And with a blunt cut like the pixie, those brows better be in shape. With hair cut right at the hairline like Jennifer's, the forehead and brows are completely exposed. Make sure to pluck stray hairs at least twice a week.
